Called from Calvary

Jim & Amy Smith to Japan

A product of Calvary's bus ministry, Jim Smith was called from Calvary to plant churches in Central Japan along with his wife, Amy, and their three children, Philip, Emily, and Daniel. They arrived in Japan December, 2006 and have worked alongside the Japanese at Wakaba Baptist Church in Saitama since March, 2009. Keep up to date with the Smiths by clicking the link below!

Sheryl and Jana Arnold

Jim & Amy Smith to Japan

Starting in 1979, the Arnolds traveled the roads of America and several foreign countries presenting the gospel in such a way as to reach not only the ear gate through the preaching of the Word, but also the eye gate by use of beautiful chalk drawings. On November 28, 2020, Vester Arnold was called to heaven and into the presence of Jesus.

After Vester's homegoing, Sheryl continued to minister with their daughter, Jana, in Vacation Bible Schools, Sunday Schools, VBS teacher workshops, and music ministries around the United States as long as she was able. While she is an excellent pianist and soloist, Sheryl is also a very gifted teacher who has transitioned their life's work of evangelism to investing in children's ministries across the nation via her YouTube channel.

It was a privilege to have been the sending church for this faithful family until Sheryl's retirement from travel in 2024.

Haitian Seminary

In 2023, Calvary Baptist Church partnered with missionary Lonnie Hammons to establish a seminary in Haiti. The program is run by Pastor Marceline, a Haitian pastor with a burden to win his country to Christ and educate the next wave of Haitian pastors to do the same.
